Cool. My daughter was very excited when she learned infinite series methods. I was too.

Thanks again.

Keep going Michelle, remember to always pose questions to yourself, and answer them your way, after your understanding, thats how it will stick. You will always remember a conversation than a fact. At least that has been my understanding. One day I would like to take Lori's lessons.

Thanks again. (I feel like the only one reading this site, but that is always untrue in this web world.)

Interesting stuff. there's nothing like teaching yourself how to think. I think the most that was not taught at school was how to think. I struggled in Math not because it was hard but because I later found out, years after college, that I was thinking why, while most teachers were teaching how. and there is a finite way of steps to the how, so most students who got things right new the steps, but could not explain why something worked out the way it did, or what does it really mean. I am now slowly teaching myself math, and what I have realized is that MATH really is a conversation with one self and the infinite, and the conversation and learning is by questions, questions, questions In fact all science is that way.

Thanks

Michelle wrote “I have a feeling it wasn’t calculus per se, I think it was the basics…” I promise you it’s just a feeling.

Michelle will soon learn that teh concept of infinite series is normally taught in the second semester calculus, though I believe it should be taught FIRST. More here. See the first question.

In spite of Michelle’s feelings, she did very well. She took to it like a duck to water. I’m looking forward to our future sessions.
